What is a celebrant?
A celebrant is someone who writes and officiates ceremonies. I can work with you to create and lead any ceremony to celebrate any milestone in life.
The beauty of a celebrant-led ceremony is that you make the rules. So, every ceremony is unique, memorable and individual.
I am an independent celebrant which means that I am open to including any religious or cultural elements that fit your heritage or beliefs.
Is a celebrant-led wedding legally binding?
Currently, celebrant-led weddings are not legally binding in England. So, couples choosing to have a celebrant need to make an appointment at their local registry office to ensure that their marriage has been legally registered.
Most couples choose to do this the week before their wedding ceremony and find it a really quick and simple process.
But you can save your vows and ring exchange for your wedding ceremony!
Why choose a celebrant over a registrar?
Choosing a celebrant means that you have complete flexibility over where to hold your wedding and how you want the ceremony to go.
Registrars will only officiate ceremonies that are held in licensed venues. However, with a celebrant you can get married in any location of your choice (with permission of course!)
Plus you get a scripted ceremony that is unlike any other wedding; no bog-standard, impersonal registrar script in sight!
How long will the ceremony last?
A wedding or naming ceremony can be as long or short as you like (within reason), but most will last between 30 to 45 minutes. It all depends on how much and what you want to include in your bespoke celebration.
The addition of symbolic elements or rituals will extend the ceremony.
Funerals generally last about 30 minutes and will usually be determined by where you choose to hold the ceremony and how much time the venue allows.
Do you write every ceremony?
Absolutely and that’s what I love!
After meeting with you, online or in person, to get a sense of who you are and what you are looking for, I will go away to draft your dream ceremony.
Each ceremony script is written based on your stories, wishes and requests and is completely bespoke. I want you to have a unique and individual ceremony that reflects you, your life and anything that is important to you.
You will have the opportunity to review the script with me, so that you know exactly what to expect and are completely happy with the final version.
